Waterfront Station
British Columbia · Kanada · Urban site
On rainy nights the decapitated brakeman Hub Clark is seen walking the tracks with his lantern outside Vancouver's old terminus.
Waterfront Station, the grand 1915 Canadian Pacific Railway terminus, is regarded as the most haunted building in Vancouver. In 1928 brakeman Hub Clark slipped on the wet rails during repair work, was knocked unconscious and then run over and decapitated by a passenger train. On rainy nights he is still said to walk the tracks north of the station, a glowing lantern in his hand. Clark is that rare thing, an officially endorsed ghost — both Canada Post and the Royal Canadian Mint have featured him in their series on Canada's most famous hauntings. Inside the station, a woman in a 1920s dress has reportedly been seen dancing to music no one else can hear.
