The Roushdy Building

Alexandria · Egypten · House

In Alexandria's infamous ghost house, blood was said to seep from the sinks – while a dead construction worker watched over his final project.

The tower block in the Roushdy district, officially Building 412, stood half-finished for sixty years and was known to Alexandrians simply as the ghost house. Legend has it that a construction worker died in a gruesome accident during the 1960s build, and his spirit refused to let go – every attempt to complete the building supposedly stalled. Neighbours told of shrieks in the night, and the few who tried living there claimed blood rose up out of the sinks. Another version holds that the house was raised over a forgotten burial ground. Only in 2021 was the building finally completed.
