Castello Chiola
Abruzzo · Italien · Hotel
Sharan, the Creole beauty who leapt from the tower to escape Count Silveri, is said to call out at night from the castle hotel's third floor.
Castello Chiola crowns the old castle hill of Loreto Aprutino between the Gran Sasso massif and the Adriatic coast, with origins in the 9th century and life today as an elegant castle hotel. According to legend, in the early 1700s the beautiful Creole woman Sharan threw herself from the castle's tallest tower to escape the advances of Count Silveri. Her spirit is said to linger on the third floor, calling out at night for someone to speak with her and set her free. British hotel guests have told the manager of unexplained noises, voices and sighs in the night - making the ghost part of the hotel's identity.
