Along Morelia's colonial promenade, the Calzada Fray Antonio de San Miguel, stands the pink house where, according to legend, young Leonor was kept locked away by her cruel stepmother. Starving, she would slip her hand through the window grille to beg bread from passers-by while waiting in vain for her beloved to return. She died behind those bars — but the hand never went away. Locals say that anyone passing the house after midnight may see a pale hand reach out through the grille, pleading for a crust of bread.
