Krzysztofory Palace

At midnight the Black Lady crosses the halls at Main Square 35. Catch her eye and she will whisper you the date of your own death.
The palace at Main Square 35 is often called the most haunted house in Krakow, and the figure who walks it has a name: Anna Lubomirska, born Branicka, widow of Sebastian Lubomirski. She died here in the seventeenth century and was buried in the Dominican church, but the rest did not hold. The legend says that on the stroke of midnight she moves through the halls dressed in black, which is how she got her name, the Czarna Dama. She shows herself rarely and never without an errand: whoever meets her is told the date of their own death in a whisper, and for generations the people of Krakow have preferred a detour to that piece of information. Beneath the house runs a web of cellars where the sorcerer Pan Twardowski is said to have hidden his treasure.
