At Grodno Castle, Countess Małgorzata is said to re-enact her despairing suicide every night, after being forced into marriage.

Grodno Castle crowns Mount Choina above Lake Bystrzyckie in the Owl Mountains. According to legend, young Małgorzata was forced to marry a man she despised; in despair she took her own life at the castle, and her ghost is said to relive those final moments each night, lamenting the fate she could not escape. The castle also displays a chamber where the remains of a prisoner starved to death were allegedly found walled in. Today Grodno is a museum, with night tours for those who dare.
