In the Teutonic castle of Ryn, the night carries the weeping of Anna, said to have been walled up alive with her children.

The Teutonic Order's castle at Ryn, in the heart of the Masurian lake district, is today a castle hotel – but the nights are said to belong to a weeping lady. According to local legend she is Anna, a duke's wife whom the Teutonic Knights walled up alive within the castle walls together with her children, and her despairing lament still echoes through the vaults. Hotel staff describe her as a benign ghost who mostly appears to male guests lost in the long corridors. The castle is also said to hide secret underground passages leading into the town.
