In Fritsla it was told that the Evil One could take any shape — as an animal, a human, or an elegant gentleman. The one thing that always betrayed him was the goat's foot. Those who had pledged themselves to him lived rich during the agreed years, but when the time was up they were fetched without ceremony. One man who had pledged himself, however, escaped by seeking the priest's help in good time, so that the Evil One finally had to leave empty-handed.
