Oppland · Norge · Sägenplats · Uhygge 3/5
He accidentally read the devil loose and fled to the sexton – with him close at his heels the whole way.
Eirik Trøståkermoa in Ringebu had got hold of a black book and unintentionally read the devil free. At a loss, he ran north to the sexton for help, nearly beside himself with fear, for he felt the devil was always at his heels. The sexton first emptied a sack of peas to be gathered, then sand to be spun into rope by the river, and so gained time to bind the devil again.
