A priest's sons in Land played cards constantly. When a fine stranger kept winning, one bent down and saw claws on both his feet, hooked round the table-stool.

The legend holds that card-playing is the devil's work, and a priest out in Land had sons who played cards late and early. One day, as they played their hardest, a fine man joined in, and the game grew ever harder while the stranger won throughout. Suddenly one of the sons let a card slip, bent to retrieve it, and got a proper look at the man they had been playing with: he had cruel claws on both feet, hooked around the table-stool. With that the card-playing ended.
