On the farm Ula in Modum it was so troubled that no one could live there, and the priest Essendrop was called. When the haunting began he bored a hole in the window bar and commanded the evil thing, in the Saviour's name, to go out, whereupon it whined and wailed and vanished. On the way home the priest and the servant boy saw a flame beside the carriage, and one wheel running far out. 'If he has taken the wheel, he may come along to Heggen with it,' said Essendrop – and so the devil had to do.
