In the middle of the 1970s a caretaker was working late in this office building at Ashland, Massachusetts.

He was a kind man, and the thing everybody remembers about him is that in high summer he would turn the air conditioning on overnight so that the offices would be cool when people came in.

He was on the top floor working on the sprinkler system when he fell from his stepladder onto a counter, and the fall killed him.

That single detail about the air conditioning is why this entry is worth keeping. It is the only thing recorded about the man, it has nothing to do with his death, and somebody remembered it thirty years later.
