The Edifício Maison Blanche went up in the mid-1940s by the Boca Maldita in central Curitiba, on the plot where the Cine Curitiba cinema once stood. Legend tells of a drama of jealousy played out there: a man caught his wife with her lover in the auditorium and murdered her on the spot. When the cinema was demolished she moved into the new building – her restless spirit and other troubled souls are said to wander its corridors and stairwells, and tenants over the years have testified to footsteps, cold currents and a woman glimpsed from the corner of the eye. The building ranks among Curitiba's most talked-about haunted addresses.
