At full moon skeletons play violin in the old workshop house — and some swear it is Paganini himself holding the bow.

The lower stretch of Nerudova Street holds a medieval house with three small violins in its house sign. Three generations of violin-making families owned it in the 17th and 18th centuries: the master's widow Barbora Ottova, her son-in-law Leonard Pradter who built instruments for the musicians of the Loreto, and finally the Edlingers, who put up the sign in memory of every master who had lived and worked inside its walls. The legend says the workshop never truly fell silent. At full moon, kostlivci — skeletons — are said to sit in the old rooms playing the instruments made there. A politer version unsettles more: stand still outside the door on a quiet moonlit night and you hear a single violin, and the one holding the bow is said to be Paganini.
