A veiled young woman has reportedly appeared in the towers of the Renaissance château of Kerjean since the 1800s.

The fortified Renaissance château of Kerjean in Finistère was built by the Barbier family in the 16th century and has inspired one of Brittany's most romantic ghost legends. Travel accounts from the early 19th century already tell of a veiled young woman appearing in the castle towers. The tale became entwined with the fate of the castle's mistress, Suzanne Augustine de Coatanscour, who was guillotined during the Revolution. Many visitors feel her presence still lingers in the cold stone halls.
