Tévennec Lighthouse

Keeper after keeper fled the lonely rock where voices in the night screamed at them to leave.
Tévennec is a solitary lighthouse on a barren islet off the Pointe du Raz in Finistère, in one of the Atlantic's most dangerous straits. Between 1875 and 1910 some thirty keepers came and went — several were driven half-mad or fled after only months, and in Breton tradition the islet belongs to the souls of drowned sailors. Keepers told of voices shrieking "kerz kuit" — Breton for "go away" — out of the darkness. The light was automated early and is still called one of France's most haunted places; it can only be seen from the sea or from the Pointe du Raz.
