Dorcas Kelly was burned in 1761 after five bodies were found in the cellar of her brothel. The pub bearing her name stands on her old ground.

Dorcas Kelly, known as Darkey Kelly, kept the Maiden Tower brothel in Copper Alley just off Fishamble Street. In 1760 she named the sheriff Simon Luttrell, one of the notorious members of the Hellfire Club, as the father of her child. Soon afterwards she was arrested, and by tradition five bodies were found hidden in the vaults of the house. She was condemned and executed on Gallows Road in January 1761; her own age spoke of witchcraft, and she was burned after strangling. In the pub that carries her name the staff tell of the feeling of being watched, of noises in empty rooms and of glasses and chairs that shift by themselves, while in the Liberties her green figure is said to walk the churchyard of St Audoen's.
