Írafells-Móri, raised by a sorcerer to plague one family for nine generations, demanded his own bed and his own share of food at the farm.

Írafell is the innermost farm in the Kjós valley north of Reykjavík and home to one of Iceland's most notorious family ghosts. When the farmer Kort Þorvarðsson married, his wife's rejected suitors are said to have hired a sorcerer from the north, who raised a half-dead vagrant boy and sent him to follow Kort and his descendants for nine generations. Móri – recognised by his russet wool jacket, big black hat and the scar above his left eye – followed the son Magnús to Írafell, where he demanded a bed of his own beside the farmer's and a daily portion of food like any member of the household. He was blamed for illness, accidents and spoiled stores, and tales of Móri in Kjós survived well into the twentieth century.
