The fairytale castle of Torre Alfina, above the Sasseto forest in northern Lazio, is haunted - according to staff and guests - by a White Lady, 'la dama senza pace', the lady without peace, whose identity remains unknown. She is linked above all to the inner courtyard, where unexplained footprints are said to have appeared, and to the staircase where a female shadow has been seen gliding down. Employees tell of servant bells ringing on their own and objects shifting; one couple spending Christmas there watched a heavy glass dome over a nativity scene slide twenty centimetres and shatter on the floor. In 2022 Roman ghost hunters conducted a publicized EMF and EVP investigation at the castle, which today operates as a hotel and event venue.
