Louhisaari Manor
Egentliga Finland, Masku · Finnland · Herrgård · Grusel 4/5
A jealous husband forgot he'd locked his wife away — she starved to death, and the White Lady still walks the third floor, sometimes with a child.
Louhisaari Manor (Louhisaaren kartano) in Masku is Marshal Mannerheim's childhood home and one of Finland's few palace-style manors, built in the 1650s. Legend tells of Anna Sophia Rehbinder, wife of the jealous Herman Fleming, who used to lock her away when he travelled. Once he forgot to tell the servants — and she starved to death. Since then the White Lady is said to walk the third floor, often with a child no one can identify. Visitors have described objects that move, doors that open and the scent of cigar smoke. The manor is a museum.
