Hästholmen is a medieval harbour and trading place on Vättern's eastern shore with rock carvings. On the night of 19–20 Nov 1918 the S/S Per Brahe foundered in a storm just offshore; all 24 aboard died, among them the artist John Bauer, his wife Ester and son Bengt-Olov. The ship was salvaged in 1922. [Documented tragedy; no ghost legend of its own — carry the weight, do not invent a revenant.]
