Koh-i-Chiltan

On the Mountain of Forty Bodies, the spirits of forty abandoned infants are said to still lure lone wanderers.
Koh-i-Chiltan outside Quetta means Mountain of Forty Bodies in Brahui. Legend tells of a childless couple who, through a holy man's blessing, were granted forty children at once; in their poverty, the father carried thirty-nine up the mountain and abandoned them. When the mother later found the children alive among the rocks, she left her fortieth child on the summit to lure the others home – but by morning all were gone. Shepherds and hikers still speak of children's voices and laughter on the slopes, and locals avoid the mountain after dark.
