In the tower of Pieskowa Skała, Dorotka starved to death – now her ghost forever seeks her executed beloved.

The Renaissance castle of Pieskowa Skała balances on a limestone cliff in Ojców National Park, next to the famous rock pillar known as Hercules' Club. The castle's saddest legend tells of Dorotka, married off against her will, who fell in love with a lute player; when the affair was discovered the musician was executed and Dorotka was walled up in the tower, where she starved to death. Her ghost is still said to walk the ramparts at dusk, searching for her beloved. The legend lives on in the name of the rock tower below the castle – "Dorotka's Tower".
