The road known locally as the Ozone runs near Oakalla in Texas: long, winding, full of sharp curves, hills and bridges.

The account attached is that the headlights of a truck appear from nowhere behind you and stay there, closing, until you go off the road. A number of people are said to have died on it.

There is also an old bridge, still standing but condemned, and the story that a school bus full of children went over the side of it into the river and that all of them drowned.

No such crash is recorded. A school bus disaster of that scale in Texas would be one of the best documented tragedies in the state, and there is nothing. The bus is a fixture of American road legends and turns up at condemned bridges across the country.

What is real is the road itself. It is narrow, unlit, badly cambered and genuinely dangerous, and people have been killed on it, which is very likely where the story about the pursuing headlights began.
