In Pajpis in Sibbo lived an old man much given to drink. One Christmas evening, drunk as usual, he insisted on going alone to the sauna despite his wife's warnings and swore he would bathe even if the devil came to bathe him. He had barely undressed when a great black dog stepped in, took up the whisk and beat him hard, dousing the stones till they glowed. Only when the man began praying every prayer he knew did it release him, and he came out stone sober.
