A dropped card came back stained with blood – though no one at the table had a wound.

On a farm in Velfjord cards were played at every chance that offered, holy day or workday. One night someone dropped a card, and when it was picked up it was bloody, though no one had a cut on their hands. When one of them shone a light under the table, a strange man was seen sitting there with claws around the table leg. Then the game ended, and afterwards no one touched a deck at that place again.
