A church site recorded in 1345; the medieval church (visited by St Birgitta) burned in 1587, the present one 1881. The legend: the church was to be built at Ormsjötorp, but 'evil powers'/trolls tore the work down each night. So a pair of twin heifers with a sledge were loosed, and it was built where they stopped.
