Two headless Spaniards walk the house at midnight, and the maid Lubomira still leans out over the well full of gold.

The corner house where Karlova meets Seminarska carries two legends. In the reign of Rudolf II its owner took in a Spanish couple as lodgers, robbed them and murdered them in their sleep. He threw the heads into the Vltava and buried the bodies in the cellar. Ever since, the two headless figures are said to have wandered the rooms at midnight, until a confectioner in the early 1800s refused to flee as every earlier tenant had and instead had a mass said for the rest of the dead. The second legend concerns the maid Lubomira, who had heard the courtyard well was full of gold, leaned too far over the rim and fell in. When the well was finally cleaned out, gold coins were indeed found — but her soul is said to wander the yard still.
