Telč Chateau

Even in fairy-tale Telč, the White Lady is said to glide through the Renaissance chateau's halls when great events await the family.
The Renaissance chateau of Telč, beside the town's famous arcaded square and long inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, was a seat of branches of the Rožmberk and Hradec dynasties. According to tradition, recorded as early as the 17th century by historian Bohuslav Balbín, Telč is one of the residences where the White Lady appears – a woman in white gliding through the halls at night. Her appearances were said to herald great events in the owning family: births, weddings or deaths. Guides and visitors still tell of footsteps and glimpses of a pale figure in the otherwise silent chambers.
