Another version at Rötkel tells that the devil wished to do the farmers' day-labour so they could reach the tavern. To show his strength he hurled stones into the sea and threatened to throw a great stone at Rötkel church. The cock's crow stopped him, and instead he pressed his five fingers into the stone.
