Kristian Johansson of Hallstorp is said to have, one evening on his way home from Svenljunga market, had his horse halt right before the church gate at Holsljunga. Before the mare lay a black foal stretching out its head and legs. But as Kristian stood watching it, it vanished all at once, and then the horse bolted forward. It had been the Evil One's shape.
