On the way home she was followed by a black hound with fire in its throat — but her own dog Rover seemed not to notice it at all.

At Laxarby it is told how a woman named Hulda of Kittelsbo, in the summer of 1905, walked home from a visit with her dog Rover. On the way she was joined by a large black hound that ran now ahead, now behind, with red fire glowing from its throat. Strangely, Rover seemed not to notice the black hound at all. The devil was said to have one cloven hoof and one ordinary foot.
