In Vörå they tell of a woman in peril at sea who pledged away her unborn child to a dark power. As a youth the boy was placed on the church altar, and at sunrise the evil one came with three riddles. The boy answered mother's milk, a mother's embrace and finally her heart when she had pledged him away, and so the evil one was forced to leave.
