A big man asked for a ride — then it grew so heavy the horse nearly dropped, and at the cottage a black dog lay beneath the table.

In Strängsered a tale was told of a man driving an empty cart who picked up a big man asking to come along. At once it grew so heavy that the horse strained nearly to collapse. When they reached a place where an old couple sat quarreling, the man got off. The driver looked in through the window and saw a great black dog lying beneath the table. Then he understood who had been riding with him.
