On his way to court a sweetheart he saw a black hound ahead that grew and grew — at last big as a foal, with sparks flying about its legs.

At Frödinge it is told how a man set out one evening to court a sweetheart. Along the road a black hound walked before him, and the more he looked at it the larger it grew, until at last it was big as a foal. At every step sparks of fire flew about its legs before it vanished. When the man came indoors he fell gravely ill.
