On Karvat forest in Vörå, Risbacks Kajs and her boy met the devil, who came driving a white mare with a barrel on his cart. His eyes were so wicked they hardly dared look at him. Soon after came Rännas Mix with his own horse, which shied at the sight of the white mare, and suddenly she vanished before his very eyes like a whirlwind.
