According to the legend, retold on the town's ghost walks, the two cowled figures are still seen walking together, side by side in silent procession through the lanes, before they turn off and dissolve into thin air down by Sankt Ols Stræde. No one knows who they were or where their bodies were hidden, but for centuries the people of Roskilde have spoken of meeting the silent brothers. They belong to a whole company of revenants in the cathedral town, where the bloody change of faith seems to have left cracks that never quite closed.
