The Zamalek Ghost Villa
Kairo · Egypt · House
Murdered merchant Morino Shekoreel is said to still wander the villa with his little lamp – whistling melodies no one else remembers.
On Cairo's Nile island of Zamalek stands a villa where wealthy clothing merchant Morino Shekoreel was, as the story goes, stabbed to death with more than eleven wounds during a burglary in 1927. Ever since, a tall, white-haired figure carrying a small lamp is said to appear in the corridors at night. Actor and musician Ezzat Abou Aouf, who later lived in the house, spoke openly of encounters with the former owner – the spirit is even said to have whistled back a tune Abou Aouf had forgotten. The villa is among Cairo's most storied haunted homes.
