In Gjøvdal they tell of Hælge Ru, so eager in the dance that no one could wear her out; one partner took over where the last gave up. Then a fine, blue-clad man came in and asked to dance with her. After a good while he cried a rhyme that he would spin her until she had danced her fill. Now the devil himself was her partner. He whirled her until blood spattered from her shoes, then flew off with her — leaving only three drops of blood behind.
