Igorchem Bandh
Goa · India · Road
On the road behind the church in Raia it is not the night you fear – spirits are said to possess passers-by in broad daylight, between two and three in the afternoon.
Igorchem Bandh is a small road behind the Church of Our Lady of Snows in the village of Raia in south Goa, and its haunted reputation breaks all the rules: here it is the midday hour that is dangerous. According to local tradition, anyone walking the road alone between two and three in the afternoon risks possession by the spirits that dwell there. The afflicted are said to speak in incomprehensible tongues, their eyes turning red and their skin pale, and folklore even holds that the spirits draw blood from their victims. Many in Raia still take a detour at precisely that hour.
