The Irbid Jinn House
Irbid · Jordan · House
After a tragedy in the 1990s, word spread that jinn had claimed the house – and for thirty years no one has dared live there.
In a residential quarter of Irbid stand two neighbouring houses that once belonged to two brothers and their families. After one of the brothers took his own life in the house in the 1990s, stories of jinn and ghosts began circulating through the city, and the rumours soon grew strong enough to drive the families out. The houses have stood empty for three decades since, becoming one of Jordan's most notorious allegedly haunted properties – a magnet for the curious, where unexplained fires repeatedly summon the authorities while neighbours try in vain to lay the legend to rest.
