When the Evil One's years were up, an innocent child was laid in Klinggård's arms and the Bible at his side — but only one priest could force him out.

In the district around Svenljunga a tale was told of a gentleman named Klinggård who had signed a contract with the Evil One to gain wealth. When the appointed years had passed, the Evil One came to fetch him. The family then laid a small, innocent child in his arms and the Bible at his side as protection, and sent for priests. A dean and a student were rebuffed after the Evil One mocked them for old sins. Only a curate from Sexdrega could master him: he bored a hole in the leaded window and commanded the Evil One to crawl out and leave his written pact behind. That same night people in Svenljunga heard thundering and driving on the roads.
