The priest rode Old Erik from Kristiania to Copenhagen – for the price of those who slept in church, but no one slept.

At Kungshamn it was told of Peder Dass, who was to hold matins in Kristiania and high mass in Copenhagen the same day, and rode on Old Erik. The price was to be those who fell asleep in church. On the way Old Erik sank so the priest's feet reached the water, but the priest only commanded 'higher up and faster on'. After mass the Fiend waited in vain – no one had slept, and he got no one.
