Potsford Wood
Suffolk, Wickham Market · United Kingdom · Natural site
An eerie wood even in summer, haunted by the last victim of the Potsford Gibbet.
Potsford Wood is an eerie place even on the brightest summer days. Almost lost among carpets of nettles and bracken lie the rotting remains of the Potsford Gibbet, last used on 14 April 1699 when Jonah Snell was executed for murder. A mysterious figure dressed in black, with a skull beneath the hood, is sometimes seen. Source: Haunted Places in Britain (PDF compilation).
