A three-legged hare-like creature fouled the cowshed – and was driven off with red-hot horseshoe nails.

In Malung in Dalarna people told of the puke, which left foul things behind in the cowsheds. To be rid of it, one took three nails from a horseshoe, heated them red-hot and drove them counter-sunwise into the puke's droppings. One could also whip the droppings with a withy to drive off the puke, which resembled a hare and had three legs.
