In Västervik in Korsholm the sorcerer Nedergårds Johannes was said to be in league with the Evil One and to have uncanny luck trapping game. It was told that the Evil One drove the quarry into the traps and even rode the foxes in, so hard that they were skinless beneath their feet. When the old man tried to teach his twelve-year-old son the art, the boy was so frightened by the sight that he soon died.
