At Norra Finnskoga it is told that "the wicked one" was for a time seen by the church at night, running like a hound, black as soot. But as soon as anyone caught sight of him he vanished, or could "cast a glamour" so that people no longer saw him. Whistling in the evening was said to draw the devil near.
