In Södra Finnskoga it was said that "Old Erik" could show himself when the drinking-bouts started in the cottages. He was described with horns on his knees and a large horn in his forehead, though he could also walk as a tall black man. He was said to be the one who haunted Röjden and who kept company with those skilled in witchcraft, lending them his aid.
