At Torp in Färgelanda lived, the legend says, an ungodly clerk, Sven of Tegen, who had pledged himself to the Evil One. With the Devil's help he built strange clocks, one that ran a whole year on a single winding. On his deathbed his bed burned with heat, and he found peace only after the clock face was rowed out and sunk in the lake's deepest spot.
