A skipper wished himself to the Baltic and struck a pact with Old Erik – but his curiosity cost him his hair off Copenhagen.

A skipper from Uddevalla, called Vidrompen, lay becalmed in the North Sea and wished himself in the Baltic. Then Old Erik, or Horn-Per, appeared and made a pact: he would bring the vessel there while the crew stayed below deck. As they raced past Copenhagen, Vidrompen poked his head out of the cabin window to look – and the hair was blown clean off him.
